Purchase Order

New Purchase Order Functionality

  • In the Vendor Module, you can now set a minimum order quantity for Vendor Parts. This is helpful when creating Purchase Orders if you work with a vendor that requires you to buy parts in certain quantities. This can be setup specific to each vendor from the Vendor Module in the Parts Tab.
  • A default vendor lead time has been added to the Vendor Module. This will allow you to set the lead time for a vendor to provide you with inventory. Doing this will automatically set the Purchase Order’s Date Scheduled field.
Image Storage

Change in How Fishbowl Stores Images

Fishbowl will now store images, such as part images, product images, bill of material images, and company logos, in the database. Current image files will be migrated during the update to 2017.13. You will now be able to drag and drop images into the picture area in Fishbowl. The supported file types include .jpg, .gif, and .png.

If you have a custom report that uses images, please, contact our Reports Team before you upgrade to 2017.13.

Dashboard

New Dashboard Website Widget

In the Dashboard Module, you can now set any web URL to display within the dashboard. This is hepful if you need to reference a website, such as our documentation site, a shopping cart, or your website, while working in Fishbowl.

Recommended Steps to Upgrade Fishbowl to 2017.13

If you are updating from version 2017.1, or newer:

  1. On the server computer, close the Fishbowl Client and stop the Fishbowl Server.
  2. Make a backup of your database by opening the Fishbowl Server window, select Tools then Options, then right click on your database and select “Backup Database”.
  3. If you have images or custom reports you will want to make a backup of those as well.
  4. Install the new version of Fishbowl on the server computer. Run the Fishbowl Server and wait until the database update is complete.
  5. On each client computer, the Fishbowl Client will automatically update the first time you run Fishbowl.

If you are on version 2016.14 or older:

  1. You must first be on Fishbowl version 2016.14. 2017 will migrate your database from Firebird to MySQL. A new database will be created and populated with all your existing data. This process may take a significant amount of time, especially when updating large databases.
  2. On the server computer, close the Fishbowl Client and exit the Fishbowl Server.
  3. Make a copy of your database (usually in the ".../database/data" folder in the Fishbowl directory). If you have images or custom reports, you will want to make a copy of those as well.
  4. Install the new version of Fishbowl on the server computer. Run the Fishbowl Server and wait until the database update is complete.
  5. On each client computer, the Fishbowl Client will automatically update the first time you run Fishbowl.

If you have any questions about upgrading, use Live Chat, or email support@fishbowlinventory.com.
